Why do I need a DJ at my Wedding Ceremony?

You don't! If you have Live Music or someone managing your audio you most definitely don't need it. Should you not have this booked, we provide the sound system for your marriage officiant/commissioner, play music as your guests are arriving and finding their seats, and coordinate the processional and recessional music.

Do you meet with the DJ before the wedding?

Yes! Every booking includes a 1-on-1 planning meeting (virtual or in-person) where we go over your timeline, music preferences, key songs, cultural moments, and any do-not-plays. You’ll also receive a digital planning toolkit to make sure everything is covered well before the big day.

How do I get corporate gigs as a DJ?

Breaking into corporate DJing takes more than just skills, it requires professionalism, branding, and networking. Here's how to start:

• Build a polished brand (logo, website, LinkedIn presence)
• Network with event planners and AV companies
• Create clean, crowd-safe playlists suited for diverse audiences
• Have contracts and invoices ready, corporate clients expect that
• Offer optional MCing, lighting, and tech support

The Link International actively collaborates with businesses and brands across Vancouver, if you're a DJ looking to break into this space, professionalism and presentation are key.

What is the rule of 32 in DJing?

The “Rule of 32” refers to 32-beat phrasing, a fundamental concept in DJing. Most music is structured in 32-beat (or 8-bar) segments. Knowing this helps DJs blend tracks seamlessly during transitions, especially in EDM, hip-hop, and pop, so drops, vocals, and breakdowns line up perfectly. At The Link International, our DJs use phrasing and beat-matching to create smooth, natural transitions that keep your guests on the dance floor.

What do most DJs charge per hour?

Most professional DJs in Vancouver charge between $150–$300 per hour, depending on the event type, gear requirements, and their experience. Keep in mind, this doesn’t include setup, travel, or planning time, which is why most DJs (like us at The Link International) offer flat-rate event packages instead of strict hourly billing, so you get more value and less stress.

What is considered a professional DJ?

A professional DJ does more than play music, they read the room, manage the vibe, and keep your event running smoothly. They’re reliable, prepared, use top-tier gear, and know how to mix with intention. At The Link International, our DJs bring the perfect blend of skill, style, and professionalism to every event.
